Obituary

ROBINSON,
Howard Sherwin
December 12, 1949 ā€“ October 19, 2019
With heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dear Howard while hiking with friends in Frontenac Park, Ontario. Howard was actively involved in the Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists, the Rideau Trail Association, the Wolf Grove Singers, the MM2020 group and many community activities. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved birding, hiking, fishing and canoeing. He also loved to sing and share his knowledge of nature with his children, grandchildren and friends. Howard was born in Lancaster, England and moved to Canada in his early twenties to pursue a career in telecommunications. Howard was residing in Clayton, Ontario with his devoted wife Mary Robinson. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Nicola Robinson, (Mike Skinkle), son Gary Robinson (Karen de Libero) and stepdaughter Marguerite Roberts (Phil Cooke). Devoted Granddad of William, Oscar, Dylan, and Charles Robinson (Ottawa) and Jacob and Spencer Cooke (Perth). He is also survived by his brother Mark Robinson (Gill Burgess) of Lancaster, England and Kathleen Robinson of Langley, British Columbia, wife of deceased brother Ralph Robinson. He was dearly loved and respected by his cousins, niece, nephews, brothers-in-law and their families, friends and extended family members including the Bruce family, Dorie & Henk deJong and Fran Bailiff.
Friends are invited to a celebration of life gathering on Sunday, November 3, 2019 (2 to 5 p.m.) at The Marshes Golf Club, Brookstreet, 320 Terry Fox Drive, Kanata, Ontario

Mary,
Howard was a wonderful gentleman who will be greatly missed. We thoroughly enjoyed his company on canoe trips and up at Algonquin. It's hard to comprehend how these things can happen so suddenly, and my heart goes out to you, as you navigate the days and years ahead. We have so many happy memories and this will be our strength moving forward.

Mary and family, your friends at Buckshot Lake wish to express our sincere condolences to you at this sad time. For many years we were fortunate to enjoy Howard's contributions to our lake community, serving on the board of the lake association, exploring and monitoring our lake environment as Lake Steward, and generally sharing his enthusiasm for and knowledge of our natural environment. We shall always remember his energy, his ready laugh, and his eager participation in our lake community events.

Howard Robinson Dec 12, 1949 ā€“ October 19, 2019

One could easily say of Howard, he was a "scholar and a gentleman". We had not known him long so his loss stirs us that much more with regrets that we will not get to know him better.

Always knowledgeable and generous to a fault with his time we would gravitate to Howard for answers to questions that arose during birding walks. He had that kind of charm, and friendliness. Always a wonderful photographer, Howard thoroughly understood his subject matter; that was clearly embodied in his photographs and in his life.

In fact, Howard was a strong advocate for the protection of nature and above all, one who believed in actions, not just words. I remember first meeting Howard when he and I, with a group of like-minded individuals, set out to protect the Appleton Wetlands. His passion for preserving all nature was manifest in his enthusiastic approach to finding solutions. We gladly shared his enthusiasm and we will miss it.

Iā€™m sure Howard will, in spirit, continue to inhabit the realms of nature and do good wherever he can.

In memoriam we salute a fellow naturalist.

Soar with eagles, Howard!

Mary,
A voice from our past working life together ... I was greatly saddened to read that Howard had passed away. I had met him only a few times back then, but saw a cheery and lovely person in him. My sincerest condolences go out to you at this very difficult time, and may the passing of time provide you some solace.
